The MACA in Alicante presents Ideas K, a monographic exhibition of artist Fernando Sinaga
19.04.2013
The MACA of Alicante presents on April 19 Ideas K, a retrospective exhibition of the artist based in Salamanca Fernando Sinaga, curated by Gloria Moure. The exhibition brings together, through more than forty works in various expressive media, the underlying imagery in Sinaga's work throughout much of his creative period, from 1984 to the present. The exhibition has been made possible thanks to the production effort carried out by the MUSAC, Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla and León and the collaboration of Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) which has published the exhibition catalog. Likewise, it is necessary to highlight the special collaboration of the Consortium of Museums of the Generalitat Valenciana and the Excma. Provincial Council of Alicante, without which this exhibition would not have been possible. Other collaborations have joined the organization of the exhibition, thus allowing its celebration. This is the case of the personal work of Begoña Martínez of the Aural Gallery as well as Edijar, Hostal Les Monjes, Dársena Restaurant and Don Carlos Restaurant. More information in the full note.
Works loaned by private collections and the artist's collection. This retrospective that encompassed a large part of his creative period (1984-2011), vindicated Fernando Sinaga's independent spirit and sought to make evident the richness and complexity of his work. The transgression of boundaries implies not only the interactivity between works, whether objects or images, but the appreciation of space as a visual and plastic element rather than as a neutral container for creations, which in turn implies valuing art more as an aesthetic experience in which one participates, than as distant contemplation. The exhibition made clear that Sinaga immerses himself in an individual ideology, changing, favoring differences rather than homogeneity, and that responds to the aesthetic imperative in the sense of creation and not beauty, on one hand through the expansion of the concept of sculpture, and on the other, in works such as De los sentimientos, 1994 through the revision of the idea of abstraction.
