Domesticate the house and the street. A certain study

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
The architecture table 10

"Domesticating the house and the street" is the leitmotif that is repeated in the work of the young architecture studio Cierto Estudio, whose projects range from the design of domestic spaces to their recent experience of urban renewal of Consell de Cent street, in the heart of Barcelona's Eixample.

In their presentation, they will try to explain to us how this melody or fundamental idea of 'domesticating' works both in the house and in the street, since after all both are spaces where people coexist. And, therefore, so are work spaces, leisure spaces, accommodation spaces, learning spaces, sports spaces, or exhibition spaces, such as this museum. But what does it mean to domesticate space? How is it possible to design the domestic?

Federico's Recreational Activities by Álex Peña

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
Sample of Contemporary Authors Theater from Alicante

Activity included in the Contemporary Authors Theater Exhibition of Alicante, Guillermo Heras.

Recreativos Federico is an installation composed of seven arcade machines customized around a dramatic work by Federico García Lorca or its context. In this EXO-dramatic installation, Alicante-based actor, performer and cultural agitator Álex Peña uses humor and poetry to reflect on the commodification of artistic legacy in the context of the capitalist system.

Guided tour by Álex Peña: November 9 (from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM) Free admission until capacity is reached.

We are accustomed to converting historical figures into consumer objects. Any of us can buy in Granada a keychain with the inscription I Love Lorca without ever having read a single verse by the author of "Gypsy Ballads". The EXO-dramatic installation proposed by Álex Peña at the MACA aims to criticize with humor and very subtle irony the conversion of artistic legacy into banal souvenirs.

The installation consists of seven interactive arcade machines equipped with sensors that perceive human presence. They react with sounds and lights, proposing games or the sale of some product, always inspired by the Lorca universe. "Bernarda Alba's Crane" is a mechanical skill game in which the player can obtain Adela's Comb, Pepe el Romano's original perfume or Bernarda's Fan; "Blood Balls" is a surprise ball machine that randomly contains a bag of blood from the Bridegroom or Leonardo, the lover in the well-known dramatic work "Blood Wedding"; the machine named "The Hatless Women" is inspired by the women artists of the Generation of '27 who removed this fashion accessory as a sign of protest and were stoned for it along with Dalí and Federico at the Puerta del Sol. In the foosball table inspired by "The Love of Don Perlimplín with Belisa in His Garden" we can face the characters from the work published by Lorca in 1929; "Yerma, La Nuit" is a phallic condom vending machine that alludes to the condom that a liberated Yerma could well have hidden while enjoying the Parisian night, while "Cadaqués Invaders" is an arcade machine with an original shooting game based on the famous "Space Invaders" in which the player Lorca shoots La Argentinita's castanets against a Dalí who responds by launching his mustache against the Granadian poet. Finally, "So Five Euros Pass" is a machine that exchanges coins for bills. Here, Federico himself represents that arcade owner of all time who would grumble while feeding the stuffing of his mattress of bills.

All installations are accompanied by a soundtrack featuring collaborations from different contemporary independent artists and groups such as Rocío Márquez, Pablo Peña and Darío del Moral (Pony Bravo, Fiera); Daniel Alonso (Pony Bravo), Alicia Acuña, The Gardener/Stay P MSRT (Califato ¾), Los Voluble and Yunke Junk Preachers. Additionally, the "Blood Balls" machine features the original voice of one of the poet's descendants, Laura García-Lorca.

Encounters with local artists. Eduardo Lastres

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
Big words

Palabras mayores arrives at MACA to go beyond the apparent. Because museums are places where we discover and learn, but also spaces designed for citizens to experience and reinvent.

This is a mediation project aimed at people over 60 years old who want, first of all, to learn about and reflect on contemporary art, the function of museums, and the vision of both established and emerging creators. On the other hand, the participating individuals will establish synergies with the collections existing in the museum, developing their own narrative based on what they find in the galleries through guided visits, open debates, artistic creation activities, and social and cultural empowerment dynamics.

The main objective is to transform the museum into a laboratory for cultural and artistic experimentation in which participants will contribute their vision and experience to the contents present in the museum, while carrying out an activity that provides them with new knowledge. It is an encounter in which the dialogue between the visitor and the museum takes place through contemporary art and the MACA collections, with the mediation of an educator who will act as a link between both.

As a result of these meetings, the Group proposes the creation of a platform to give visibility to artists living in Alicante. This pilot project at MACA, titled Visibility: an open window to the local creator, aims to showcase different Alicante creators, deepen and expand knowledge about contemporary art, and learn to view the collections housed in MACA from another perspective.

Visibility: an open window to the local creator will materialize with a series of sessions in which an artist will be invited to present their artistic trajectory, sharing their artistic concerns and reflections, the development of their creative process, their techniques, etc.

The Subjects of the City, by María Ángeles Durán

The subjects of the city are multiple and contradictory. With power and unprotected, healthy and sick, young and old, women and men. Inhabitants, visitors, owners and aspirants. Each one lives, desires and receives different treatment from the city. Some achieve success. Others only dream of it.

Sempere

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
IVC Award for Valencian Performing Arts for Best Dance Show 2024

Movement, light, vibration and dynamism are key points in the work of Eusebi Sempere, a leading figure in shaping the artistic modernity of the country in the second half of the twentieth century. As a proposal from the Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante to commemorate the centenary of his birth, Asun Noales meticulously and delicately explores the three-dimensionality of bodies in space, the use of light and the search for kinetic and optically seductive work for scenic arts. Volume, plasticity, repetition, rhythm, musicality and poetry have a place in this abstract and danced journey that traverses Sempere's work like a score of movement, using it as a starting point for the composition of the scenes.

Film Projection

Wednesday, September 13 at 6 p.m. 'Chocolat' by Lasse Hallström with Juliette Binoche, Johnny Depp, Judi Dench and Alfred Molina. With five Oscar nominations, it is the story of a very traditional French village where nothing has changed in the last hundred years, when the North wind brings with it two outsiders: Vianne Rocher (Juliette Binoche) and her daughter Anouk (Victoire Thivisol). Vianne opens a chocolate shop full of sweets capable of awakening the hidden appetites of the village inhabitants. She also possesses a special gift that allows her to perceive the desires of others and satisfy them with the exact sweet.

Thursday, September 14 at 6 p.m. 'The Last Recipe' directed by Yōjirō Takita with Kazunari Ninomiya and Gou Ayano. Mitsuru Sasaki is a world-class chef who has lost his passion for his craft. Although he can cook any dish having tasted it only once, his restaurant has gone bankrupt due to his extremely perfectionist character. To pay his debts, he makes a decision: he will personally cook one last meal for whoever is willing to pay one million yen for it.

Friday, September 15 at 6 p.m. 'Babette's Feast' by Gabriel Axel, starring Stéphane Audran, Jean-Philippe Lafont, Gudmar Wivesson. This film, which won an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, is set in the 19th century in a remote village in Denmark, dominated by Puritanism where two elderly unmarried sisters recall with nostalgia their distant youth and rigid education. The arrival of Babette, who comes from Paris, will change their lives. The outsider will soon have the opportunity to repay the kindness and warmth with which she was welcomed. A lottery prize allows her to organize an opulent dinner with the finest dishes and wines of French gastronomy. All the neighbors accept the invitation, but they previously agree not to show satisfaction that would be sinful. But, little by little, in an intense and emotional ceremony, they give in to the pleasures of French cuisine.
