Alicante Classical Theater Festival

Complementary activity included within the 8th edition of the Alicante Classical Theater Festival.

Born in Madrid in 1967, Lorenzo Caprile trained as a dressmaker at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and at the International Fashion Polytechnic in Florence; he is also a graduate in Language and

Literature from the University of Florence.

In 1986 he began working for important fashion firms, both Italian and Spanish. But it was not until 1993 that he opened his workshop in the Salamanca neighborhood of Madrid.

Specialized in custom ceremonial suits, his creations have walked red carpets and his unique and handcrafted garments have been featured on numerous covers of the most well-known publications. Since 2006 his name has also been linked to the creation of costumes for theater, film, dance and opera, due to his other facet: that of costume designer, highlighting his work for the National Classical Theater Company and the November Company.

He is the author of the books "Let's Get Married" and "What We Talk About When We Talk About Style" and regularly participates in round tables and conferences at the country's leading design institutions and schools. He collaborates on El Comanche, a program on Onda Cero directed by Julia Otero.

He has received numerous awards for the excellence of his work as a dressmaker and costume designer. He has been awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts (2018). And on television he has been one of the jury members of the hugely popular RTVE program "Masters of Sewing" and creator and presenter of the format "Sewing and Telling" on Telemadrid.

Ti do re mi fa sol la ti

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

Si fa sol la mi la re do la is the presentation of the results of a cycle carried out specifically for/with the students of the Rafael Rodríguez Albert Municipal Professional Music Conservatory of Mutxamel, in dialogue with the MACA, during the month of April 2023.

The theoretical-practical sessions pointed to a possible correlation between the concepts of emptiness and silence, specifically based on a reading of references that related different practices in the field of visual and live arts around these concepts.

From the reading and as a response to a series of group dynamics based on principles of condition, Si fa sol la mi la re do la emerges: a cassette with side A and side B that serves as a witness to the students' creations.

The cycle, taught by Leti Cano —independent curator and mediator— and Mar Reykjavik —visual artist and mediator—, was made possible thanks to Eva Coves Orts —professor of Creativity and Music at the Conservatory— and Aitor, Brais, Esther, Raquel, Llorenç, Celia, María, Joel, Darío, Paula, Martín, Maia and Sergio; the voices, bodies and silences that make up the Cassette and that appear in the fanzine.

Precarious. Irene García

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
MACA Live

Precaria is a performance, a site specific, a danced monologue or a very talkative dance. It stems from a process of empirical research, reflection and collection of experiences around what it means to be an artist

in this country and how through humor the artist has managed to navigate precariousness, appropriate her difficulties and transform them

into creative material.

The work makes visible and brings to the forefront questions about the recognition of the arts, the impossibility of making a living from art and the difficulty in making ends meet.
