MACAlistens

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

MACAlistens … is to create a space to share and exchange ideas, open debates and new ways of thinking around art and education.

On September 22nd we present our Educational Program. In this meeting we propose our intention to organize different meetings or encounters with teachers interested in discussing and reflecting on other ways of working with art and education, in exchanging ideas and actions.

These encounters aim to be open and flexible with the idea that the more diverse the participants, the more enriching the result will be. However, we think we should start by levels; teachers of early childhood education and first cycle of primary school, then organize encounters with primary school and finally with secondary school. Similarly, we think it would be ideal to start with two sessions per level, with the aim of exchanging ideas and reflections in a first meeting and deepening and sharing experiences in the second.

The encounters would take place in the MACA library at 5 p.m. The calendar of sessions would be as follows:

Early Childhood and Primary:

-November 8th

-November 15th

-December 1st

Secondary we propose in January 2023.

If this proposal interests you, please complete this registration form so we can get to know you and contact you.

Lumina Ensemble with Jesús Torres

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
Soniart. October 2021

Lumina Ensemble is the project of four saxophonists

passionate about their instrument and contemporary music, who belong

to two generations and who join efforts to achieve

high-level musical performances.

Lumina refers to the light that continuously permeates

our land. Light that determines our open and

tolerant character, and that proposes the union of people who converge in a

common project. Light as an analogy of our way of understanding

musical performance in its infinite forms, with proposals

committed to contemporary music. Essential therefore to achieve

this goal, is the collaboration with composers and the premiere of works

written or transcribed for this group.

This concert serves to present Lumina to the

public, although it should be noted that its members

have significant artistic and professional experience that has

led them to perform in numerous concert halls, festivals and concert

series.

Lumina Ensemble is a flexible group that is based on

saxophonists Pablo de la Fuente, Javier Carrillos, Isaac Verdú

and José A. Suay. In this event it also includes

Óscar Martí (percussion) and Mercedes Lozano (organ).

Jesús Torres: (1965 - Zaragoza). He completed his academic training at the Royal Superior Conservatory of Music in Madrid.

In parallel, he takes various courses in Musical Analysis with

Luis de Pablo. Between 1986 and 1988 he studies composition with Francisco Guerrero. He has been awarded various prizes: SGAE (Madrid 1992), Gaudeamus Prize (Amsterdam 1995), Valentino Bucchi (Rome 1997), Queen Sofía (Barcelona 1999), Millennium Chamber Players (Chicago 2008) and the National Music Prize 2012. He was appointed resident composer of the CNDM (National Center for Musical Dissemination) for the 2017/2018 Season. Since the 2019/2020 Season he was appointed resident composer of the Zaragoza City Symphony Orchestra.

His first opera, Tránsito, based on the homonymous play by

Max Aub, premiered in May 2021 at the Naves del Español

in Madrid, commissioned by the Royal Theater, in co-production with the Spanish

Theater. His catalog consists of more than 130 compositions, with

orchestral and chamber pieces of very different

instrumental formations. His music has been performed in festivals and

concert series in numerous countries.

The Women in Visual Arts (MAV) association convenes 3 debate sessions, the first in Valencia, then in Castellón and the last in Alicante under the title "Rethinking exhibitions by women artists". Its objective is to share opinions and experiences of artists and professionals in the sector on the best way to make women artists' work public and achieve greater balance in the exhibition programming of museums and art centers.

The cycle will consist of three sessions and will feature prominent women artists, researchers and curators from the art world to open the debates: Amparo Carbonell, artist and curator, Alba Braza, cultural manager, Isabel Oliver, artist and Gema Del Rey Jordà, moderator, on October 25 at the Centre Cultural La Nau in Valencia; Assumpta Bassas, curator of artistic and educational projects, artist Julia Galán, MACVAC director Rosalía Torrent and Nerea Bella, moderator, on November 11 at the Llotja de Cànem in Castelló, and finally, Rosa Castells, conservator of MACA, Rocío de la Villa, curator, Paloma Navares, artist and Sofía Albero Verdú moderates the debate, on November 23 at MACA.

"Rethinking exhibitions by women artists" is the first edition of DebatsMAV, an initiative with a vocation for continuity that seeks to generate in our Community an open space for reflection accessible to citizens to promote equality and recognition of women's contributions to art history. The association has the support of the Vice-presidency and Ministry of Equality and Inclusive Policies (Generalitat Valenciana) for this first edition. Created in 2009, Women in Visual Arts has 95 members in the Valencian Community and 856 at the national level from various fields of the art world: artists, curators, researchers, cultural managers, educators, gallery owners, specialized journalists, publishers, designers, critics, collectors, architects, etc.

The association works as a non-profit entity and in a horizontal manner to achieve its main objective: to promote real and effective equality between women and men within the cultural sector and compliance with the Equality Law. To this end, it promotes collaborative work among its members, while defending from feminist activism our rights and common projects, supporting and making visible those initiatives that contribute to women being an active and empowered part in a democratic, equitable and diverse society.

Project Terra. Miguel Martínez

Miguel Martínez Perallón Terra Project. Plan for the recovery and enhancement of the Cultural Landscape of Camp d'Alacant.

The Comarca of L'Alacantí has become a paradigm of territories with valuable patrimonial and landscape resources threatened by an unstoppable urban development pressure and the abandonment of a large part of these assets. The Huerta of Alicante constituted for centuries a true system of systems through which Alicante achieved worldwide fame and prestige. In a context in which most heritage preservation policies and citizen participation for urban planning models have failed, the Terra Project emerges, promoted by the NGO Arquitectura Sin Fronteras and the College of Architects. Terra is an education program for global citizenship that brings together around thirty citizen associations and interested individuals, along with key institutions in resolving this serious conflict.

In recent days, Alicante media outlets are echoing the Wines of Alicante DOP campaign, in which a new image is adopted based on the creation of the "Junta d´Inhibició del Ví foraster d'Alacant", a privilege granted by Ferdinand the Catholic in 1510 in Valladolid. The campaign has been made possible thanks to the work carried out by researchers from the MARQ and the University of Alicante, and they demonstrate that this organism would constitute one of the oldest Designations of Origin in the world.

The results of this study, well celebrated by Alicante society, contrast sharply with the state of ruin in which the cultural landscape that gave rise to the production of those colossal wines is found.

In a semi-arid environment such as that of the comarca of L'Alacantí, the miracle of the ancient huerta was possible thanks to the creation of a network of hydraulic infrastructure formed by weirs, such as those of Sant Joan and Mutxamel, irrigation channels, lateral channels and secondary channels, along with the Tibi Dam, which came into operation in 1594 under the reign of Philip II, for centuries considered the largest dam in the known world. Most of these elements still exist today, although they present a very poor state of conservation in many cases. In addition to these patrimonial resources, the territory of the Ancient Huerta has a high concentration of Assets of Cultural Interest, 28 towers; currently 25 refuge towers and 3 watchtowers are preserved, and it is known that around 40 towers existed throughout the huerta. All of them are merely the tip of the iceberg of a patrimonial network of more than 200 assets, including houses and villas of the Huerta, religious architecture, wineries, mills, historic centers and traditional paths that constitute a unique ensemble of great beauty and incalculable value. Unfortunately, this valuable system is on the brink of extinction as a result of high urban development pressure and the abandonment of a large part of these assets.

Faced with this situation, the NGO Arquitectura Sin Fronteras España, ASFE, the Official College of Architects of the Valencian Community, COACV, together with the Territorial College of Architects of Alicante, CTAA, through the education program for global citizenship "TERRA, THE CULTURAL LANDSCAPE OF CAMP D'ALACANT. Structuring a sustainable comarca". The initiative brings together around thirty Alicante associations that work for the recovery of a narrative that gives new meaning to the territory of the Ancient Huerta, with the objective of promoting the recovery of this important patrimonial and landscape ensemble. Furthermore, the Terra Project has the support of the City Councils of Alicante, Mutxamel, Sant Joan d' Alicante, El Campello, Tibi, the Provincial Council of Alicante and the Marc.

ALICANTE CITY: DYNAMIC? Joaquín Alvado Bañón.

"What are we talking about when we talk about Architecture?" I propose a reflection on this question by questioning whether Alicante is prepared for the future as a resilient city. To do so, we invite you on a journey through the proposals presented by the studio in Antwerp, Osaka, Quito and Helsinki, passing through the "City Model", which we have just built in Benidorm. Finally, to conclude and debate, we will present the proposals submitted in recent years to transform Alicante into an "Urban Coastal Forest".

Joaquín Alvado Bañón. Doctor of Architecture. Associate Professor of Architectural Projects at the University of Alicante. He has presented his work as a visiting professor at the Universities of Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Baku, Munich, Dubai, Sydney, Tokyo, Istanbul and Venice. His projects have received various national and international awards in architecture competitions. His work has been published in twelve languages. He collaborated with architect Toyo Ito and his "K" house was selected in the X Spanish Architecture Biennial. His latest works have been nominated for the A+A Awards (Garden House), F.I.B. Outstanding Structures Prize 2014 (Kiss Bridge), Best House, Archdaily 2013 (Pool House), best landscape and public space work, Plataforma Arquitectura 2015 (Promenade 1K). You breathe in the garden like in a forest

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
Contemporary Authors Theater Showcase

"One breathes in the garden as in a forest" is a scenic exercise conceived by the company El Conde de Torrefiel for a single person.

During the advance sale from October 7 to November 3 (both inclusive), ticket prices are discounted by 50% OFF. The work is divided into two parts and has a duration of 30 minutes.

During this period of time, the participant is invited to first assume the role of performer, and then the role of audience member. In the first part, they must follow the instructions of a voice that, as if it were a musical score, indicates how to create live a series of simple performative actions. In the second part comes the moment to watch. The participant's gaze is what imagines the artistic fact that unfolds before their eyes.

The piece, in short, proposes a bidirectional look at the theatrical fact and the mechanisms of how imagination works: someone watches in silence while another person carries out an action on stage. These are the foundations of the primitive theatrical convention that has endured for thousands of years until our days.

Just as a garden is an artificial organization of nature—not Nature itself—theater is not reality, but an organization of words and images that someone arranges to create a discourse with internal logic. Reality, therefore, is only an artifact of imagination.

Founded in València by Tanya Beyeler and Pablo Gisbert, the theatrical company El Conde de Torrefiel is one of the main references at the European level for live arts and proposals far removed from conventional theater. This piece that we bring to the Alicante Theater Festival is a good example of the language that has earned international fame for the company.

Meetings with local creators. Reyes Caballero

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
Big words

MACA is carrying out Palabras Mayores. A mediation project aimed at older adults, which was born in 2021 from the hand of the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community, and which since 2022 has had the mediation of Juan Diego Cerdá who accompanies the Group in these meetings.

The Group meets two Wednesdays a month in the MACA library to create a space for exchange and learning, where the knowledge of the Group intersects with the contents of the Museum's Collections.

As a result of these sessions, the Group proposes a series of meetings at MACA, titled Encounters with Local Creators, which aim to showcase different Alicante creators, deepen and expand knowledge about contemporary art and learn to view the collections housed in MACA from another perspective.

Encounters with Local Creators is materialized through a series of sessions in which an artist is invited to present their artistic trajectory, sharing their artistic concerns and reflections, the development of their creative process, their techniques, etc.

These talks will last 45 minutes in which the invited artist will give a presentation of about 15 minutes, answering questions posed by the Group: How do you do it? Why do you do it?, and a subsequent discussion, of about 30 minutes, with the attendees.

See you at the museum!
