No more boring artists. Scenic Camp 14_18

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

"No more boring artists. Scenic Camp 14_18" is a creation project through the performing arts… and much more. It is an invitation to reinvent the concept of museum that young people have. We want the museum to become the epicenter of their passions, their interests and their aspirations. We know that this happens by awakening emotion, imagination, debate, encounter and discovery. It is necessary to reach them, and put at the center the topics that truly interest them. After all, art is a language, and we want our young people to express themselves through it. We want a creative society. We want them to be art.

Objectives

Convert MACA into a reference space among the youth population.

Bring young people closer to contemporary art so that they not only understand it, but also become creative agents.

Promote interest in artistic production and creation through the performing arts.

Foster social awareness and critical consciousness through the practice of different artistic disciplines.

Offer cultural leisure alternatives that can be consolidated beyond the project's calendar through the creation of permanent artistic collectives.

Establish bridges of intergenerational dialogue based on the use of new technologies and communication networks

Aimed at young people aged 14 to 18 years old.

Idea and coordination: AmbulantesLab selected in the #cercles 2021 call of the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community.

Yves Klein. Paint Everything Blue

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
I, artist. May 2022

Yves Klein always thought about how to surprise his audience, and one day he hit the mark, he would paint everything in a special, unique blue. The rest is history. Here, as in his previous books, Fausto Gilberti tells us his vital and artistic journey with humor and intelligence.

On March 9, 1960, Yves Klein performed his performance, Anthropometries of the Blue Period at the Galerie Internationale d'Art Contemporain in Paris. The work consisted of the creation of two large-format anthropomorphic paintings conducted by Klein. His production consisted of the application of paint made with the IKB pigment, a dark navy blue manufactured and patented by the artist, on the torso and thighs of the bodies of naked women, who once covered in paint, pressed their bodies against large sheets of white paper. The result was a monochromatic and abstract impression of those female bodies in real scale.

DIM 2022

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

Alicante resumes the celebration of International Museum Day. The museums and cultural centers in the city of Alicante are resuming the joint celebration of one of the most important dates on the cultural calendar; Museum Day.

The return to normalcy is a fact and therefore, the municipal museums (MACA, Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante, The Cultural Center Las Cigarreras, the Exhibition Hall of La Lonja, MUSA and the Tabarca Museum), the provincial cultural centers (MARQ, Archaeological Museum, MUBAG, Museum of Fine Arts and the Juan Gil Albert Institute), The Ocean Race Museum, the MUA, University Museum and the Museum of Waters of Alicante, have come together again so that from May 13 to 22, residents of Alicante and visitors can enjoy an extensive program for all audiences.

Since 1977, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) has organized this festive day with the objective of raising public awareness about the fact that "museums are an important means for cultural exchanges." As every year, ICOM chooses a theme around which the event will revolve, and in 2022 the theme chosen for these days is "The Power of Museums." Museums have the power to transform the world around us. As incomparable places of discovery, they teach us our past and open our minds to new ideas, two essential steps for building a better future.

Visitors who visit any of the participating museums and cultural centers will be able to take home a magnet with an image chosen by each of them, made for the occasion.

NEW WEBSITE PRESENTATION

This year, the city's museums update and promote a joint dissemination resource: A website that shows the unique identity of each one and concentrates the activity developed by all institutions in a single space, facilitating all agents related to cultural dissemination and tourism in Alicante with a single tool to display content related to art, culture and heritage. Based on RSS technology, the website collects information from the individual pages of each museum and also allows the administration of their own spaces by the technical staff of each institution, making maintenance very efficient.

The programming of all museums and centers is available on the social networks of Museums of Alicante and on the website: http://museosdealicante.com/ as of May 18.

Solo by Cesc Gelabert

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
MACA Live

Gelabert has selected some of his favorite solos, presented over the years in theaters in many places around the world and adapted to the characteristics of the place and occasion. In them, he introduces the different pieces with brief comments, whether they are references to the work or personal ones, explanations about their meaning or general ideas about dance, anecdotes or comments of the moment.

It is a way of communicating with the spectators and introducing them to the works they are going to see, and I have been able to verify that it helps establish a complicity and a relaxed and suggestive atmosphere.

This year we celebrate 11 years since the launch of the Festival Abril en Danza. In this new edition we are going to give voice and prominence to artists from diverse generations. It seems urgent to us that emerging artists and Companies begin to find their place, but without losing the experience and accumulated wisdom of our references. Linking the youngest creation with projects that have been maintained over time throughout the years, a matter that we know is very complicated in this Country, is fundamental for the development, respect and consolidation of our profession.

For all these reasons we have sought a range of proposals and body languages, developed from different visions and by artists from diverse generations. Artists of all ages who will take a journey through dance throughout the month of April in the cities of Alicante and Elche. A plurality of universes and visual poetics, where the perspective of young emerging artists is added, leading us to the most current creation, together with the pieces of artists in their maturity period, where mastery and professional trajectory give them an already established character and style of their own.

The Festival once again features the "MACA EN VIVO" program which celebrates its second edition. Expanded programming in collaboration with the MACA and the Museum Consortium. An extensive proposal of several interventions related to performance and live arts that begins in April with Janet Novas, 2021 critical eye award winner, who will be programmed in April.

Meeting with José Luis Vidal Carreras

The Snack

José Luis Vidal Carreras, writer.

The MACA, Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante is carrying out La Merienda. A mediation project aimed at elderly people, which was born at the MACA, Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante in 2021, in collaboration with the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community, coordinated by Juan Diego Cerdá.

As a result of these meetings, the Group proposes the creation of a platform to give visibility to artists who live in Alicante. This pilot project at the MACA, titled Visibility: an open window to the local creator, aims to publicize different Alicante creators, deepen and expand knowledge about contemporary art and learn to view the collections housed in the MACA from another perspective.

Visibility: an open window to the local creator will materialize with a series of sessions in which an artist will be invited to present their artistic trajectory, sharing their artistic concerns and reflections, the development of their creative process, their techniques, etc.

La merienda is an original project by Alba Cacheda.

Bookcrossing 2012

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

The MACA celebrated for the first time on April 20, 2012, International Book Day (April 23) with a BookCrossing.

BookCrossing is the practice of leaving books in public places so that another person can pick them up, read them, and do the same with them. Thus, a book that we have left in Alicante can end up in any other part of Spain or abroad.

The museum released a total of 10 books. These are registered on the official bookcrossing page (www.bookcrossing.com) which each person who finds a book and picks it up will have to access, so that at all times each of the released books is located.

It is a fun and original way to promote reading among all types of audiences.

Happy Book Day!
