In the 19th century there were about a thousand female plastic artists in Spain, and until the third decade of the 20th century (beginning of the Civil War), 18% of the works exhibited in national exhibitions were by women. Currently, female students of Fine Arts exceed 70%. Despite this, recognition is minimal. The objective of this itinerary is to promote and give visibility to the artists in our collections.

The representation of reality is related to numerous artistic and aesthetic trends. We see it in the representation of everyday life, or in pop art, which uses popular images or in works of social and political commitment that represent the surrounding reality
The activity that has been prepared for this itinerary aims to strengthen knowledge related to the realities depicted in works from different collections to represent a new vision of these through the technique of exquisite corpse*.

This itinerary aims to show how twentieth-century artists incorporate all kinds of objects and materials foreign to the work of art in their creations and how they work with gesturality as a way to transmit sensations, feelings, and different effects. In the workshop that accompanies this tour, the use of textures in art is explored and how gesture impacts and helps communicate.

Sempere's Suitcase is an educational resource for classroom work in which we transform our artist Eusebio Sempere into the prototype of a traveling artist, offering students the opportunity to discover his vital, creative and artistic trajectory through the cities he visits, the artists he meets and the artistic trends he gets to know.
How do we do it? We have prepared a box in which you will find information about the artist, his artistic context and his work, games and playful and sensory materials to get to know Sempere through the manipulation of structures and volumes and cross-curricular proposals. The content is complemented by a series of activities inspired by his works and creative processes.
In this tenth edition, the 4th ESO students from IES Altaia have participated in this project. The research topic has revolved around visual poetry, taking as a starting point the work of Joan Brossa exhibited at the MACA and the artist's ability to blur the boundaries between words and images. Through visual poetry, the students have explored the relationships between language, image, and imagination, discovering new forms of artistic and literary expression.
The creative process has had the collaboration of Josep Sou, an artist who works with visual poetry. This process has included both reflection on the work of Joan Brossa and experimentation with different materials and techniques: collages, calligrams, installations, and poetic objects, all with the aim of enhancing their creativity and bringing them closer to contemporary art. The project has encouraged active student involvement, promoting a critical and personal perspective on poetry and the visual arts.
The works and a performance titled No Violència created by the students were presented at the educational center on June 6, 2025 and at the MACA on June 11, with a small exhibition and the presentation of the performance before the 5th and 6th grade students from CEIP San Roque who visited us that day.
The 4th year ESO students from IES Playa San Juan were the ones who participated in the 9th edition of Menuts Veïns. The project developed this academic year has revolved around female creativity in the field of textiles. The students had the opportunity to research and work with textile art through the main female creators, from the pioneers of the first avant-garde movements of the 20th century who used textiles as an artistic language to the present day, highlighting its value.
The artist who collaborated on this occasion was Aurelia Massanet. With the artist, the work developed by the students was based on textiles and experimentation with various materials such as twine, wool, ribbons, ... and with different weaving supports such as construction site safety mesh, frames, cardboard, …
The works were exhibited in the annex of the museum's auditorium and presented by the students and participating teachers on June 13, 2024.
