Thinking about the process with the objective of photographic practice.

The immediacy of the click in a context of global overproduction is forcing artistic practice to review the processes on which photographic heritage is built.

Today, the creative process is understood as a method, a preparation, or a connection with critical thinking. Without this focus that redirects importance toward the process, photography, increasingly, finds itself immersed in doubt about the overproduction of images and visual culture without reflection.

By objectifying its value, thinking about the process offers an opportunity to solve problems based on creative experience. This willingness puts current photographic languages at the service of artistic practices that, in one way or another, propose non-linear processes or narratives, capable of challenging current concepts of space and time.

For all these reasons, from BEPHOTO we want to open a space for dialogue and reflection through proposals that analyze these issues and help add richness toward greater chronodiversity.

Ana Gilsanz Díaz.

NAM (Navegando Arquitecturas de Mujer) is an app that collects and locates the works of women's architecture studied in the AICO project "Situated Perspectives. Women's Architecture in Spain from Peripheral Perspectives 1978-2008" (2021-2023), directed by María Elia Gutiérrez Mozo, Associate Professor of Architectural Composition at the University of Alicante, who leads it as principal researcher along with her team from the University Research Institute for Gender Studies at the same university.

It is an open and easily accessible resource that offers continuous content updates. It geolocates works throughout the national territory, allowing users to save personalized routes based on different search parameters (authorship, typology, use, scale, or decade). Each work, furthermore, includes a record accessible from the device consisting of basic information, photographs, graphic documentation, available bibliography, other links, and explanatory texts that account for the research conducted for each entry.

MAV, Women in the Visual Arts, with the support of the Community of Madrid and the Ministry of Culture and Sports, and in collaboration with the Lázaro Galdiano Museum, present the MAV 2022 Gala: a commemorative event that brings together three acts: a tour of BMAV22 Biennial Women Visual Arts 2022, IX MAV Awards and the X Anniversary of the M-Arte y Cultura Visual Magazine.

A summary of the edition is presented, reviewing the five proposals selected in the grants call, as well as the invited proposals that have become part of this edition's programming.

As for the proposals selected in the grants call, they were: Body in Atelier: Art, Design and Feminist Activism, Dulce Pinzón and Tamara Ibarra; Manifesta of the 2% Laboratoria Women Acting in Museums, Tania Lombeida Miño; On the Edge of Time, Raquel Algaba; Hosting the Gaze, Artxibo: Tamara García and Sara Berasaluce; and Celebració, EXCHANGE Live Art.

The Assessment Commission was composed of Cèlia del Diego (former director at Centre d'Art la Panera), Iris Lam (cultural manager and curator), Daniel Silvo (artist, curator and independent researcher) and MAV partners Isabel Sanz along with María Jesús Abad Tejerina and Anxela Caramés, who are also part of the board of directors and the BMAV working group.

The MAV association has also collaborated with INTERSECCIÓN, Festival of Contemporary Audiovisual Art. The event took place in Galicia during the month of October. The jury, composed of Anxela Caramés Sales (curator), Isabel Pintado Palacio (artist), Rosario Sarmiento Escalona (curator) awarded Cat & Éiméar McClay for A Body is a Body is a Body, a video in which Catholicism, witchcraft and queer desire collide in 3D animated frames. It also awarded two MAV honorable mentions to: Monica Mura for Sonic Thought, an exercise in writing without ink that becomes sonic to remain trapped between the digital and analog medium to perpetuate itself as a Möbius strip; and to Laura Tabarés for The Soft Boy, a creepypasta audiovisual that narrates the encounter with the Softboy, a soft and smooth being that

represents an archetype to unravel soft/tender masculinity and its role in the sophistication of sexist violence.

IX MAV Awards

The winners in the IX Edition of the MAV Awards in the five categories are: for the trajectory of an Artist/Creator, Carmen Calvo; for the trajectory of a Gallery Owner, Begoña M. Deltell of Aural Gallery; for the trajectory of a Manager/Curator, Rosa Mª Castells; for the trajectory of a Theorist/Critic, Marián López Fdz. Cao; for an individual or collective project carried out in the last two years, The Memory of the Shaved Women by Art al Quadrat.

To these five awards is added the Special Collaborating Partner Award granted by the MAV Board of Directors to the M-Arte y Cultura Visual Magazine. The award winners will accompany us at the MAV 2022 Gala on November 30 at the Lázaro Galdiano Museum starting at 6 p.m.

The jury of the IX MAV Awards, composed of: José Luis Pérez Pont –as a specialist appointed by the Board of Directors, María Gimeno –representing the MAV 2022 award winners, Paula Noya and Claudia Martínez –MAV partners chosen by lottery, Esther Regueira and Alejandra Bueno –as Board representatives, and Olga Méndez –as secretary, with voice and without vote, ruled on the MAV 2022 Awards on October 24 via Zoom meeting, after the voting period of the MAV Partners that defined the finalists.

X ANNIVERSARY M-ARTE Y CULTURA VISUAL MAGAZINE

We celebrate ten years of the M-Arte y Cultura Visual magazine which aims to address art and visual culture from a gender perspective, presenting other perspectives and sensibilities, from the conviction that

to achieve a society of equality between men and women, it is necessary for images to open up to new interpretations, diverse and shared, in the tolerant understanding of differences. That is why it is not a magazine dedicated solely to disseminating what women contribute to art, nor is it made exclusively for female readers.

Conceived by MAV as an open space, with the plural contribution of artists and specialized professionals, we speak about the current state of art and the management of artistic heritage without losing sight of visual symptoms

in our country and in the international panorama, raising reflections and debates of interest to the entire community of visual arts at least in Spanish-speaking countries.

ComunicAlc. Cultural Communication Conference

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

Events organized by the Juan Gil Albert Institute of Alicantine Culture, the MACA and the Miguel Hernández University. Participants include Olga Cuadrado, Rafa Cervera, Óscar López and Carlos Navas.

Digital communication and/or analog communication. The difference between a digital system and an analog one is that the former develops through discrete, finite values, while the latter does so with continuous, infinite values. Viewed this way without mediation, without interpretation, neither from the world of technology nor from that of philosophy, it doesn't say much and, at the same time, it says everything, since it evokes, in a somewhat poetic manner, the bone of contention of communication, and therefore, of the transformation of information into knowledge, in the contemporary world.

While in the first ComunicAlc Events, in 2021, debate centered around the false dichotomy between local and global, in 2022 the division of the cultural world between the analog and the digital is put on the table, not as a confrontation, but as an approach.

The people who are part of the two round tables, as well as the speakers, come from very diverse fields of cultural management and communication, sharing their experiences, dialoguing about them, the differences perhaps are not so great.

Rethinking Exhibitions of Women Artists

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

Women artists' exhibitions under debate in three sessions organized by the Women in Visual Arts (MAV) association in Valencia, Castellón and Alicante

The Women in Visual Arts (MAV) association convenes 3 debate sessions, the first in Valencia, then in Castellón and the last in Alicante under the title "Rethinking exhibitions by women artists". Its objective is to share opinions and experiences of artists and professionals in the sector on the best way to make women artists' work public and achieve greater balance in the exhibition programming of museums and art centers.

The cycle will consist of three sessions and will feature prominent women artists, researchers and curators from the art world to open the debates: Amparo Carbonell, artist and curator, Alba Braza, cultural manager, Isabel Oliver, artist and Gema Del Rey Jordà, moderator, on October 25 at the Centre Cultural La Nau in Valencia; Assumpta Bassas, curator of artistic and educational projects, artist Julia Galán, MACVAC director Rosalía Torrent and Nerea Bella, moderator, on November 11 at the Llotja de Cànem in Castelló, and finally, Rosa Castells, conservator of MACA, Rocío de la Villa, curator, Paloma Navares, artist and Sofía Albero Verdú moderates the debate, on November 23 at MACA.

"Rethinking exhibitions by women artists" is the first edition of DebatsMAV, an initiative with a vocation for continuity that seeks to generate in our Community an open space for reflection accessible to citizens to promote equality and recognition of women's contributions to art history. The association has the support of the Vice-presidency and Ministry of Equality and Inclusive Policies (Generalitat Valenciana) for this first edition. Created in 2009, Women in Visual Arts has 95 members in the Valencian Community and 856 at the national level from various fields of the art world: artists, curators, researchers, cultural managers, educators, gallery owners, specialized journalists, publishers, designers, critics, collectors, architects, etc.

The association works as a non-profit entity and in a horizontal manner to achieve its main objective: to promote real and effective equality between women and men within the cultural sector and compliance with the Equality Law. To this end, it promotes collaborative work among its members, while defending from feminist activism our rights and common projects, supporting and making visible those initiatives that contribute to women being an active and empowered part in a democratic, equitable and diverse society.

Project Terra. Miguel Martínez

Miguel Martínez Perallón Terra Project. Plan for the recovery and enhancement of the Cultural Landscape of Camp d'Alacant.

The Comarca of L'Alacantí has become a paradigm of territories with valuable patrimonial and landscape resources threatened by an unstoppable urban development pressure and the abandonment of a large part of these assets. The Huerta of Alicante constituted for centuries a true system of systems through which Alicante achieved worldwide fame and prestige. In a context in which most heritage preservation policies and citizen participation for urban planning models have failed, the Terra Project emerges, promoted by the NGO Arquitectura Sin Fronteras and the College of Architects. Terra is an education program for global citizenship that brings together around thirty citizen associations and interested individuals, along with key institutions in resolving this serious conflict.

In recent days, Alicante media outlets are echoing the Wines of Alicante DOP campaign, in which a new image is adopted based on the creation of the "Junta d´Inhibició del Ví foraster d'Alacant", a privilege granted by Ferdinand the Catholic in 1510 in Valladolid. The campaign has been made possible thanks to the work carried out by researchers from the MARQ and the University of Alicante, and they demonstrate that this organism would constitute one of the oldest Designations of Origin in the world.

The results of this study, well celebrated by Alicante society, contrast sharply with the state of ruin in which the cultural landscape that gave rise to the production of those colossal wines is found.

In a semi-arid environment such as that of the comarca of L'Alacantí, the miracle of the ancient huerta was possible thanks to the creation of a network of hydraulic infrastructure formed by weirs, such as those of Sant Joan and Mutxamel, irrigation channels, lateral channels and secondary channels, along with the Tibi Dam, which came into operation in 1594 under the reign of Philip II, for centuries considered the largest dam in the known world. Most of these elements still exist today, although they present a very poor state of conservation in many cases. In addition to these patrimonial resources, the territory of the Ancient Huerta has a high concentration of Assets of Cultural Interest, 28 towers; currently 25 refuge towers and 3 watchtowers are preserved, and it is known that around 40 towers existed throughout the huerta. All of them are merely the tip of the iceberg of a patrimonial network of more than 200 assets, including houses and villas of the Huerta, religious architecture, wineries, mills, historic centers and traditional paths that constitute a unique ensemble of great beauty and incalculable value. Unfortunately, this valuable system is on the brink of extinction as a result of high urban development pressure and the abandonment of a large part of these assets.

Faced with this situation, the NGO Arquitectura Sin Fronteras España, ASFE, the Official College of Architects of the Valencian Community, COACV, together with the Territorial College of Architects of Alicante, CTAA, through the education program for global citizenship "TERRA, THE CULTURAL LANDSCAPE OF CAMP D'ALACANT. Structuring a sustainable comarca". The initiative brings together around thirty Alicante associations that work for the recovery of a narrative that gives new meaning to the territory of the Ancient Huerta, with the objective of promoting the recovery of this important patrimonial and landscape ensemble. Furthermore, the Terra Project has the support of the City Councils of Alicante, Mutxamel, Sant Joan d' Alicante, El Campello, Tibi, the Provincial Council of Alicante and the Marc.

ALICANTE CITY: DYNAMIC? Joaquín Alvado Bañón.

"What are we talking about when we talk about Architecture?" I propose a reflection on this question by questioning whether Alicante is prepared for the future as a resilient city. To do so, we invite you on a journey through the proposals presented by the studio in Antwerp, Osaka, Quito and Helsinki, passing through the "City Model", which we have just built in Benidorm. Finally, to conclude and debate, we will present the proposals submitted in recent years to transform Alicante into an "Urban Coastal Forest".

Joaquín Alvado Bañón. Doctor of Architecture. Associate Professor of Architectural Projects at the University of Alicante. He has presented his work as a visiting professor at the Universities of Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Baku, Munich, Dubai, Sydney, Tokyo, Istanbul and Venice. His projects have received various national and international awards in architecture competitions. His work has been published in twelve languages. He collaborated with architect Toyo Ito and his "K" house was selected in the X Spanish Architecture Biennial. His latest works have been nominated for the A+A Awards (Garden House), F.I.B. Outstanding Structures Prize 2014 (Kiss Bridge), Best House, Archdaily 2013 (Pool House), best landscape and public space work, Plataforma Arquitectura 2015 (Promenade 1K). In 2016 he was invited to present his work at the XV International Architecture Exhibition La Bienal di Venezia 2016 (Time, Space and Existence). At ESCALAR we work with absolute commitment to the quality of our projects, which leads us to develop solutions in which sustainability, design, economy, technique and quality complement and balance each other in all aspects of our projects.

Our office operates from the Mediterranean coast of Spain, offering innovative solutions to global architectural needs. We are a young team of professionals with experience and capacity to develop projects in architecture, landscape, urbanism, infrastructure and design, as well as consulting and project advisory services.

Our professional trajectory has opened doors for us to develop projects of all scales, in which we have offered our vision and commitment to contemporary architecture in interventions of all scales: from landscape, infrastructure and urbanism, to small works of furniture, lighting and parametric design, including buildings, public facilities, rehabilitations, housing, ephemeral and commercial architecture.

We are committed to offering the best of technique and tradition in all aspects of our work, from rehabilitation to modular architecture and prefabrication, bringing great precision to our projects in all phases, from conception to completion of construction, which generates an optimization of economy and materials, improving performance and work times, and guaranteeing an efficient result for the client while reducing the ecological footprint of construction.

We work to personalize and conceive unique and singular projects for each client, because we know that each person lives and perceives spaces in a unique and unrepeatable way, generating new questions, which we want our projects to answer.
