The 20th Century Art Collection was donated by Eusebio Sempere to the city of Alicante to create, in 1977, one of the first contemporary art museums in this country. It is composed of 177 works by 117 artists including paintings, sculptures, drawings and graphic works; spanning a time period of almost 70 years, from the twenties to the early eighties, bringing together a carefully selected roster of great artists of the twentieth century. It is the cornerstone of this Museum of Contemporary Art in Alicante and is displayed on the First Floor.

The 20th Century Art Collection responds to the rigorous selection of works by its creator, Eusebio Sempere, who with determined international vocation makes evident his great sensitivity, vision of the future and above all, his will to disseminate the aesthetic values of 20th century art. It includes representations of some of the most important artists considered by Sempere as essential in the discourse of international modernity such as Picasso, Julio González, Juan Gris, Joan Miró, Alexander Calder, Vasarely, Rosenquist or Rauschenberg… among others. But it is in the realm of 20th century Spanish art where we find the best works of the Collection and a more extensive range of trends, movements and significant groups of avant-garde art with works by Ferrant, Palazuelo, Chillida, Millares, Saura, Zóbel or Tàpies. Few female artists are represented but they are very significant such as Sonia Delaunay, Elena Asins, Soledad Sevilla or Carmen Laffon. An impressive display of paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, lithographs and silkscreens that traverses the most suggestive territories of the artistic framework of the past century through an extensive list of essential artists.
