ELELEI was born in 2019 from the collaboration between Sabrina Gargano (Barletta, Italy) and Rafa Jagat (Valencia), united by the idea of bringing together their own paths in dance and theater, to unite them as a disciplinary language.

Motivated by telling stories, by questioning the why of things, and so that they could be understood by the audience, their first work A CIEGAS was born in 2020, winning the first prize at the MAIS IMAGINARIUS festival in Portugal in 2021 and the AUDIENCE AWARD at the 35 International Choreographic Competition Hannover 2021. Currently on tour.

SOY MADERA premiered on May 26, 2022 at the MAIS IMAGINARIUS festival in Santa María da Feira, Portugal.

From June 16 to October 15, 2023. Opening of the second exhibition organized from the extensive collection donated by Michael Jenkins and Javier Romero to the MACA, bringing together on this occasion the work of fifty-eight artists of different nationalities, working in very diverse artistic media, and striking an equal balance between women and men artists.

Kinetic Odyssey is an exhibition of collective work created by a group of young artists between 15 and 25 years old Op Theater: Scenic Campus "Eusebio Sempere" who, during two weeks at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Alicante, have worked from the creation of the figure and work of Eusebio Sempere.

July 21, 2023. HYPERCANNON, Concert-workshop of Graphic Music. In certain areas of contemporary music, scores have moved away from having a purely functional character, being an established code between composer and performer, to follow a gradual process of flexibility, gaining in subjectivity, until sometimes becoming artistic objects in themselves.

December 10, 2023. MOOD Sempere is a project of cultural and artistic mediation proposed by Ester García Guixot and Juan Diego Cerdá Martínez, educators at MACA, on the occasion of the Centenary of the birth of Eusebio Sempere and which is aimed at students of EASDA, School of Art and Higher Design of Alicante.

The result of this incredible project is the unique exhibition "Mood: Sempere". In it, students of Ceramics and Interior Design from EASDA pay an emotional tribute to Eusebio Sempere. They have reimagined his artistic vision through a creative exploration of his life and work, capturing the essence of Sempere, and reinterpreting his legacy through a contemporary perspective.

November 2, 3, and 4, 2023. Artistic Practice in the Age of Artificial Intelligence. From Sempere to Our Days. The workshop, taught by Daniel G. Andújar, is included within the Ros Film Festival (international and online festival of science fiction short films with robots).

This workshop proposes a dynamic intersection between art, science, and technology. Not only will the broad possibilities that emerging technologies offer to the artistic field be explored, but tribute will also be paid to a visionary who crossed these boundaries long before they became a trend: Eusebio Sempere.

Sempere was a pioneer in his time, an artist who ventured into the world of calculation and programming to bring his artistic visions to life. His time at the Computing Center of the University of Madrid in the 1960s positions him as one of the precursors in the experimentation of art and technology. Using computers and algorithms, Sempere explored new forms of expression that challenged the artistic conventions of his era, always from a critical distance and logical prudence in an incipient stage of computer use in art.

From December 2 to 4, 2022. It should be an absolutely normalized matter. But it isn't. It still isn't. That's why we return, one more year, with the same enthusiasm and the same determination that we have maintained since 2017, when we celebrated the first edition of this meeting of interaction, emotion and inclusion that has as its headquarters and epicenter the Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante (MACA). The official reason, of course, is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is celebrated every December 3rd. But we work every day, unwaveringly, so that full inclusion becomes a reality.

From December 3 to 6, 2020. We celebrated days of accessible and inclusive activities on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Through TODOS MACA we aim to bring contemporary art closer to ALL types of audiences, thereby fostering interest in culture, the arts, participation, creativity and respect. The idea is to build bridges between people, and to make our differences, our diversity, instead of an obstacle or a communication barrier, an opportunity for mutual learning, for collective creation. We all contribute if we all participate.

November 29th and Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019. This year we have the pleasure and privilege of announcing TODOS MACA in its third edition, featuring diverse proposals for all audiences: exhibition with refreshments, live screen printing, typewriter, storytelling session with ILSE and a participatory domino game about the "diverse beings" that inhabit society… which, in essence, are all of us.
