All MACA 2022

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

EVERYONE MACA does not give up.

And if it doesn't give up, it's because of you. Every year we set ourselves the challenge of organizing these multidisciplinary artistic events with the aim of making visible and empowering people with functional diversity.

And we know that it shouldn't have to be necessary. We know that all people, regardless of their class, category or condition, should have the right and freedom to be part of the usual creative processes, of the artistic circuits, and to be present in all educational centers, in all professional spaces and in every stratum of this society.

It should be an absolutely normalized matter. But it isn't. It still isn't. That's why we return, year after year, with the same enthusiasm and the same determination that we have maintained since 2017, when we celebrated the first edition of this meeting of interaction, emotion and inclusion that has as its headquarters and epicenter the Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante (MACA). The official reason, of course, is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebrated every December 3rd. But we work every day, unrelenting, so that full inclusion becomes a reality.

MACAlistens

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

MACAlistens … is to create a space to share and exchange ideas, open debates and new ways of thinking around art and education.

On September 22nd we present our Educational Program. In this meeting we propose our intention to organize different meetings or encounters with teachers interested in discussing and reflecting on other ways of working with art and education, in exchanging ideas and actions.

These encounters aim to be open and flexible with the idea that the more diverse the participants, the more enriching the result will be. However, we think we should start by levels; teachers of early childhood education and first cycle of primary school, then organize encounters with primary school and finally with secondary school. Similarly, we think it would be ideal to start with two sessions per level, with the aim of exchanging ideas and reflections in a first meeting and deepening and sharing experiences in the second.

The encounters would take place in the MACA library at 5 p.m. The calendar of sessions would be as follows:

Early Childhood and Primary:

-November 8th

-November 15th

-December 1st

Secondary we propose in January 2023.

If this proposal interests you, please complete this registration form so we can get to know you and contact you.

Meetings with local creators. Reyes Caballero

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
Big words

MACA is carrying out Palabras Mayores. A mediation project aimed at older adults, which was born in 2021 from the hand of the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community, and which since 2022 has had the mediation of Juan Diego Cerdá who accompanies the Group in these meetings.

The Group meets two Wednesdays a month in the MACA library to create a space for exchange and learning, where the knowledge of the Group intersects with the contents of the Museum's Collections.

As a result of these sessions, the Group proposes a series of meetings at MACA, titled Encounters with Local Creators, which aim to showcase different Alicante creators, deepen and expand knowledge about contemporary art and learn to view the collections housed in MACA from another perspective.

Encounters with Local Creators is materialized through a series of sessions in which an artist is invited to present their artistic trajectory, sharing their artistic concerns and reflections, the development of their creative process, their techniques, etc.

These talks will last 45 minutes in which the invited artist will give a presentation of about 15 minutes, answering questions posed by the Group: How do you do it? Why do you do it?, and a subsequent discussion, of about 30 minutes, with the attendees.

See you at the museum!

Palabras Mayores arrives at MACA to go beyond the apparent. Because museums are places to discover and learn, but also spaces designed for citizens to experience and reinvent.

This is a mediation project aimed at people over 60 years old who want, first of all, to learn about and reflect on contemporary art, the function of museums, and the vision of both established and emerging creators. On the other hand, the participating individuals will establish synergies with the collections existing in the museum, developing their own narrative based on what they find in the galleries through guided visits, open debates, artistic creation activities, and social and cultural empowerment dynamics.

The main objective is to transform the museum into a laboratory for cultural and artistic experimentation in which participants will contribute their vision and experience to the contents present in the museum, while carrying out an activity that provides them with new knowledge.

This is an encounter in which the dialogue between the visitor and the museum takes place through contemporary art and the MACA collections, with the mediation of an educator who will act as a link between both.

Technical Information

Spaces: 15 people maximum (closed group)
Mediation: Juan Diego Cerdá, historian and social facilitator.

Scenic Campus No more boring artists. 2024-2025

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

The "No more Boring Artists: Scenic Laboratory" is an annual performing arts initiative aimed at young people between 15 and 25 years old. This initiative seeks to continue the success of the "No more Boring Artists: Scenic Campus", an intensive summer program that has captured the attention of numerous young people, extending its creative spirit throughout the year.

The laboratory will offer a unique space for creation and experimentation, where participants will work on three quarterly scenic creation projects. Each project will be inspired by the works of outstanding artists from the MACA collections and will culminate in a public exhibition at the end of each quarter, allowing young people to share their creations in a professional and enriching environment.

Objectives

Convert MACA into a reference space among the youth population.

Bring young people closer to contemporary art so that they not only understand it, but also become creative agents.

Foster interest in artistic production and creation through the performing arts.

Promote social awareness and critical consciousness through the practice of different artistic disciplines.

Offer cultural leisure alternatives that can be consolidated beyond the project's scheduling through the creation of permanent artistic collectives.

Establish bridges of intergenerational dialogue through the use of new technologies and communication networks
