Synapsis, Inclusive Dance and Performing Arts
The Synapsis project, Inclusive Dance and Performing Arts, is an initiative of the Ruedapies Inclusive Dance Association, directed by Marisa Brugarolas together with Alicia Esteve and Luis Martínez, and promoted by the Culture Department of Alicante, Las Cigarreras and MACA with the support of the Art for Change program of the "la Caixa" Foundation.
Synapsis is an artistic-educational, inclusive and participatory project aimed at people with and without functional diversity over 18 years old to create a space for dialogue between contemporary culture and the personal and group experiences of the participants.
Through workshops in expressive movement, dance and interdisciplinary performative action, participants will approach active knowledge of their expressive capacities, using participatory strategies in which they will become active agents of their own knowledge. The personal and group transformation sought will come from placing their personalized movement and artistic expression in real and imaginary spaces that dialogue with their perception of the world, with art, with their inner and outer space, and with the group itself. With all the material generated, a unique performative work will be created arising from the appropriation of the work of art and appreciation of their experience and expression through the body and movement. This group dialogue will be generated through an interdisciplinary language in which contemporary dance as expressive movement, gesture, visual arts and music will intervene.
In this participatory, interdisciplinary and inclusive creative activity, people with functional diversity will be creative agents, and not mere reproducers of a given culture, thus promoting a social, empowering and lasting transformation over time.
The workshops, exhibitions and closing event will take place at the Las Cigarreras Cultural Center and at MACA from February 14 to June 10.

His artistic concerns lead him to become involved in the research of the performing arts, with the intention of contributing new territories in the field of dance, venturing into paths such as pedagogical research, inclusion through art or diversity and therefore of artistic disciplines in general, taking into account the ambiguity and multidisciplinarity of the creative processes in which our society is immersed today.
