The Snack

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

La Merienda is a mediation project aimed at people over 65 years old, in collaboration with the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community, coordinated by educator Alba Cacheda at the MACA, Museum of Contemporary Art in Alicante. To give continuity to this wonderful initiative, the MACA currently has the mediation of Juan Diego Cerdá who accompanies the Group in these meetings.

Every Wednesday and around a snack, a space for exchange and learning is created, where the knowledge of the Group intersects with the content present in the Museum's exhibitions.

As a result of these meetings, this proposal emerges, developed by the Group, which seeks to highlight a work from the 20th Century Art Collection and bring it closer to visiting audiences through these small questions.

The La Merienda Group invites you to participate in this reflection activity. Answer the questions and deposit the sheet in the ballot box when you finish your visit.

Thank you!!

Great artists, plain and simple. DIM 2024

MACA, Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante is carrying out The Afternoon Snack. A mediation project coordinated by educator Alba Cacheda, in collaboration with the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community, aimed at elderly people.

During the months of October to December 2021, every Wednesday and around an afternoon snack, a space for exchange and learning has been created, where the knowledge of the Group has intersected with the contents of the Museum's Collections.

As a result of these encounters, the Group proposes the creation of a platform to give visibility to artists who live in Alicante. This pilot project at MACA, titled The Corner of Local Creators, aims to showcase different Alicante creators, deepen and expand knowledge about contemporary art and learn to view the collections housed in MACA from another perspective.

The Corner of Local Creators will materialize with a series of sessions in which an artist will be invited to present their artistic trajectory, sharing their artistic concerns and reflections, the development of their creative process, their techniques, etc.

Meeting with Alicante artist, Pilar Sala.

Meetings with local creators. Aurelia Masanet

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

Within the Palabras Mayores program, the MACA hosts a new session of "Encounters with Local Creators," a proposal that seeks to open the museum's doors to the voices that make up the artistic and cultural fabric of our environment.

On this occasion, we welcome artist Aurelia Masanet. With more than forty years of career, Masanet (Alcoy, 1955) has explored textiles, painting, and the fusion of materials to shape intimate landscapes and symbolic universes where the visible and invisible meet. An essential appointment to discover her singular language.

Coordinated by: Juan Diego Cerdá

Museum Day 2023

A society that lives between boxes. It uses them, in hundreds of thousands of shipments that are carried out daily around us almost without us noticing. It inhabits them, because shared living spaces are becoming increasingly oppressive, with the screens of our digital devices being the only windows to the outside. We find ourselves enclosed in fragile and suffocating walls, whether made of cardboard or concrete, of frustration or of oblivion.

That is why, from the Palabras Mayores group, they propose that we reflect on this through En/Caja/2, a performance that wanders between happening and artistic intervention, and which will take place in one of the museum's rooms. We invite you to participate in this experience that will take place on Saturday, January 28th, starting at 6 p.m., in which creators and spectators will interact and become the same thing because, after all, all people carry and live in their own boxes.

Free admission until capacity is reached. General public.

In this II edition, the visits tour the exhibition of permanent collections, carefully designed for their enjoyment and understanding, as well as to encourage reactions, reflections, conversations, or activities around art and artists, but also around the sensations and emotions they may provoke.

We visit and work around temporary exhibitions: Palazuelo. Caligrafías musicales, Serigrafías de Ibero-Suiza. Colección UPV, De la naturaleza humana. Colección Fundación Caja Mediterráneo, at the MACA, and José Luis Serzo. Blinki Rotred y el juego de los ajos, and Música, teatro y tradición at Cigarreras Cultura Contemporánea

Furthermore, this project documents the evolution and impact that the program has on participants and a subsequent evaluation of its effectiveness.

Reminiscences. Art and Culture Against Alzheimer's, 2014-2015

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

We started this edition with a wonderful visit to the temporary exhibition "Telefónica's Cubist Collection". In it we discovered that cubism was more than an avant-garde movement, it was the artistic movement that inaugurated modernity.

Through works by Juan Gris and other cubist artists, whose way of seeing reality offers us a range of imaginative possibilities, we discovered and learned another way of looking.

We related the museum's collections to the folklore that emerges from the Christmas season, through a workshop in which the traditions underlying collective memory are rescued. And we began a new year with the work of Carmen Calvo, with Mori el Merma by Joan Miró.

We closed this edition with Eusebio Sempere.
